1. Who We Are

BeDev (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates the learning platform at bedev.in. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use and protect it.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

Account data: Name, email address, password hash, profile avatar, and OAuth provider ID (if you sign in with Google or GitHub).

Usage data: Pages visited, articles read, courses enrolled, problems attempted, and progress within courses. This data is used to personalise your learning experience.

Payment data: Transaction ID and subscription status. We do not store card numbers — payments are handled by Razorpay.

Communications: Email address used for newsletter subscriptions and transactional emails (verification, password reset). You can unsubscribe at any time.

Technical data: IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically for security and analytics purposes.

3. How We Use Your Data

To create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
To deliver and personalise course content and track your learning progress.
To process payments and manage subscription access.
To send transactional emails (verification, password reset, receipts).
To send newsletter and product updates, only with your consent.
To detect fraud, abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.
To improve platform performance using aggregated, anonymised analytics.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data under the following legal bases: contract performance (to deliver the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, analytics), and consent (newsletter subscriptions). You may withdraw consent at any time.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with trusted service providers necessary to operate the platform:

Neon — database hosting (PostgreSQL)
Cloudflare — edge hosting, CDN, and R2 object storage
Razorpay — payment processing
Resend — transactional and newsletter emails
Google / GitHub — OAuth sign-in (only if you choose to use it)

All providers are contractually bound to use your data only as necessary to provide their services and to maintain appropriate security standards.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser local storage to persist your authentication tokens and theme preference. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Analytics, if any, are aggregated and do not track you across other websites.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely. Payment records are retained as required by law.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of your personal data.
Correction — update inaccurate data via your account settings.
Deletion — request account and data deletion at any time.
Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Objection — opt out of marketing emails via the unsubscribe link in any email.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures including HTTPS, hashed passwords (Argon2), JWT-based authentication, and access-controlled infrastructure. No system is 100% secure — if you suspect a breach, contact us immediately at security@bedev.in.

10. Children's Privacy

BeDev is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided data without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by displaying a prominent notice on the Platform. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
